Base Life Covenant Level 2
In John 3, Nicodemus asks Jesus what he needs to do to follow. Jesus replies very simply that you need only to believe in Him as Savior. That is at the cornerstone of confirmation… it is the public confession of this belief.
Beyond that, Paul calls us in Philippians to reflect Christ in our daily lives in order to better understand how to walk with him.
Therefore we are setting forth some expectations as we journey together…

If it is your intention to be confirmed you will need to complete the following during this calendar year…
  • BASE Life materials… You are expected to have your Bible, your BASE Life binder, and a pen or pencil with you at every BASE Life night.
  • Attendance: Since we feel that BASE Life should be a priority for you in your life, attendance at all Wednesdays and retreats is expected and required.
  • Sermon Notes: You will be expected to complete 15 sermon notes by May 3.
  • Worship: We expect you to be in worship every weekend. We hope this will become something you want to do since worship is a wonderful way to encounter God! (and complete your sermon notes!)
  • Prayer: We expect you to be actively praying for your group. God wants so badly to be in conversation with you that we feel we need to raise that up as an expectation
  • Memorization: Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” You will be given 7 pieces of scripture for the year to memorize by May 3. We will also expect that you have the 10 commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostle’s Creed memorized.
  • Retreats: Each grade will be attending a weekend retreat; If you are unable to attend, you will be expected to make up the retreat through another event.
  • Service: A challenge to your small group- Choose a service project from the list of ideas available with the small group leaders. Projects need to be completed by May 3.
  • Faith Statement: You will be required to write a faith statement at the completion of the 8th grade year and read it in front of the congregation on BASE Life/Confirmation Sunday.
  • Small Groups: You will participate in small groups – If you interrupt, bring a cell phone or use inappropriate language (including body language) you will be fined .50 per each infraction. You and parents are responsible for these charges.
Note:  These are your minimum expectations. You can do more!!! If you sign this document, this means you are accountable for all of its contents. Please understand that if you are unable to fulfill the expectations for any reason, it may result in your not being allowed to participate in the Confirmation service at the end of your 8th grade year. BUT if you are ready for God to radically change your life through devotion to him, then sign below…

I understand these requirements and intend to fulfill them this year as part of my Confirmation obligation.
